Sixteen years after the arson attack that cost the lives of three employees at the Marfin branch, authorities have managed to identify three suspects. The discovery resulted from meticulous analysis of photographic material in forensic laboratories.
The documents show a group of individuals breaking away from demonstrators and moving perpendicularly along Stadiou Street, heading towards the bank. The homicide investigation unit handled the new enquiry, which is said to clearly name the perpetrators.
From the early stages of the investigations it had been established that two different groups moved simultaneously at the location. The first attacked the Ianos bookstore with Molotov cocktails, whilst the second was positioned directly across from the Marfin branch.
For one of the three suspects, the evidence connecting his involvement in the crime is described as indisputable. The two detainees were taken to the Prosecutor under heavy police presence, whilst authorities are also examining other individuals who appear in the visual documents.
