The European Public Prosecutor's Office announced its decisions in the OPEKEPE case. Four MPs from New Democracy are referred for misdemeanours, while nine officials are ruled to be entirely innocent.

The European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) announced its decisions in the OPEKEPE case, following the conclusion of an investigation concerning 13 officials from New Democracy, among them ministers and MPs.
According to the announcement, of the 13 persons at the centre of the investigation, nine are proven to be entirely innocent. For the four MPs who are referred, the investigation concerns offences at the level of misdemeanours.
The four MPs facing prosecution are Kostas Skrekas, Christos Boukoros, Katerina Papakosta and Maximos Senetakis. They maintain their innocence and state that they will appear before the courts with a clear conscience.
Former minister Kostas Skrekas, one of those facing prosecution, called for the immediate trial of the case, expressing his conviction that the judicial proceedings will reveal the true dimensions of the matter. In a statement, he emphasised that this particular case is not connected with fictitious cultivation or unlawful collection of agricultural subsidies, but concerns a real farmer with genuine production.
For his part, MP for Magnesia Christos Boukoros argued that his involvement concerns the case of a young couple of livestock farmers, who – as he contends – have been inspected repeatedly and the findings of the inspections prove that they are genuine and lawful farmers.
The OPEKEPE case concerns the scandal involving fictitious and forged leases that came to light from 2021, when Boukoros himself had first revealed the issue in Parliament.
