Three youths aged 16, 18 and 19 were arrested in Zappeion Park following a report of a racist assault against three people.
Zappeion: Three youths arrested for homophobic assault
Three youths aged 16, 18 and 19 were brought before a prosecutor following their arrest in Zappeion Park. The authorities detained them yesterday evening as part of a flagrant offence procedure, following a complaint submitted to the "11414" hotline.
According to the Hellenic Police, the investigation began when officers from the General Police Directorate of Attica and members of the DI.AS. task force were immediately mobilised following the alert. They located the three individuals at the scene and brought them in.
Shortly before, according to the complaint, the same group together with other individuals had verbally assaulted and threatened three people inside the park. The assaults had a racist character and targeted the victims' sexual orientation.
A case file was drawn up against those arrested for threats and insults in complicity, with racist characteristics based on sexual orientation.
