Zadar police have detained a 72-year-old Croatian national who threatened police officers with death and physically attacked one of them. The court has ordered his detention.

Death threats and attack on police officer on Pag: 72-year-old brought before court

Zadar police have completed a criminal investigation against a 72-year-old Croatian national on suspicion of coercion of a public official and threats, according to Index.hr.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening, 19 August, in a settlement in the Pag area. According to police reports, the man threatened the police officers present with death during a police operation, and subsequently physically attacked one of them in an attempt to prevent him from carrying out his official duties. The police officer sustained minor injuries in the process.

A criminal charge will be filed with the competent state prosecutor's office in Zadar. Additionally, the 72-year-old is being charged with a misdemeanour under the Law on Protection from Domestic Violence.

Following the completion of the investigation, he was brought before the competent court on the basis of a recommendation for prosecution, which ordered his detention.
