Former leader of Zagreb majorettes charged with child sexual harassment
Zagreb Municipal Criminal State Prosecutor's Office is charging a 55-year-old man with sexual harassment and violation of minors' rights in the period from 2007 to 2025.
Former leader of Zagreb majorettes charged with child sexual harassment
Zagreb Municipal Criminal State Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against a fifty-five-year-old man from the capital city. The man is suspected of sexual harassment and violation of children's rights, and according to unconfirmed information published by the portal 24sata, the person in question is Alen Šćurić, the former leader of a Zagreb majorettes group.
According to the indictment, the alleged offences were committed in Zagreb during the period from August 2007 to February of this year. State prosecutors propose that the court impose a permanent protective measure on the defendant – a ban on practising any profession in which he would come into contact with minors.
Police reported Šćurić in March last year. At that time he was charged with fourteen cases of harassment and violation of children's rights involving former members of the group who were minors at the time. He was not ordered into custodial remand, but the court ordered that he must not communicate with the alleged victims nor approach them. The reasoning was that he had already left the organisation, making it impossible for him to repeat the offence.
However, at the beginning of June this summer he appeared at a public performance where he again commanded young dancers. The organisers of the event, the Croatian Fire Service Association, denied claims by his wife that he had been invited, stating that the group itself had requested to perform.
