Čakovec: 42-year-old wounded two young men, drugs and ammunition found in flat
A shooting broke out in the centre of Čakovec in the night between Saturday and Sunday. One person sustained life-threatening injuries, and police found significant quantities of drugs at the suspect's home.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, 4 July, a violent conflict involving firearms erupted in the centre of Čakovec. One of the two injured men sustained life-threatening injuries. Following an intensive investigation, police temporarily detained a 42-year-old suspect whom they suspect of attempted double murder, endangering the lives of multiple people, and illegal drug trafficking.
The conflict began with a verbal altercation in a local bar. At one point, the suspect began threatening a 22-year-old guest. After the bar doors were closed, the 42-year-old went outside and waited in the car park.
When a group of four people appeared in the car park, including the 22-year-old and a 28-year-old in the company of two friends, a physical confrontation ensued. At that moment, the suspect drew a firearm and discharged several projectiles. The younger of the two attacked men suffered critical injuries, while the older sustained less serious injuries. Two other people present were not physically harmed.
After the incident, the attacker left the country. Investigators established contact with his relatives and managed to persuade him to turn himself in to the authorities. On Tuesday, he surrendered to police. He is now in custody at the competent police station in Međimurje, and charges have been filed against him with the competent prosecutor's office.
Criminal investigators, with a court warrant, searched the suspect's flat and vehicle. They found and seized over a kilogramme of marijuana, almost six grammes of synthetic cannabinoids, almost ten grammes of cocaine, an electronic scale, and several rounds of 7.9 millimetre ammunition.
A misdemeanour charge will also be filed with the Municipal Court in Čakovec for illegal possession of ammunition. The entire case was coordinated by the County State Attorney's Office in Varaždin, according to Večernji list.
