Čakovec: Attacker (42) wounded two men in car park, drugs and ammunition found at home

A 42-year-old man fired shots at two men in central Čakovec following an argument in a café. Police later discovered significant quantities of drugs and weapons in his home.

Last Saturday at 3:40 a.m., a violent incident occurred in central Čakovec. Danijel T. (42) verbally clashed with a 22-year-old man at a venue, after which he directed threats at him. When the hospitality establishment was closed, the suspect waited for the younger man and his 28-year-old companion in the car park. During a physical altercation, Danijel T. fired several shots from a pistol. Both men sustained injuries, whilst two other people who were nearby – a 23-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man – remained unharmed. The younger attacked man sustained more serious injuries, whilst the older one suffered minor injuries.

After the incident, the suspect fled outside the country's borders. Police established contact with people from his circle, who convinced him to turn himself in. On Tuesday he appeared before police officers.

During a search of his flat, over one kilogramme of marijuana was found, almost six grammes of synthetic cannabinoid, almost ten grammes of cocaine, an electronic scales for weighing, and several rounds of 7.9 mm rifle ammunition.

The State Prosecutor's Office filed charges against the suspect for attempted murder, endangering life and property by a dangerous means, and illegal production and trafficking of drugs. He was remanded in custody by the Međimurska police.
