Two indictments: Child sexual abuse in Međimurje and rape in Istria
The County State Attorney's Office in Varaždin has filed an indictment against a 27-year-old man suspected of multiple serious criminal offences of sexual abuse and exploitation of a minor child. According to the allegations in the indictment, the offences were committed between September and November 2025 in the Međimurska County area. The prosecution has also requested an extension of pre-trial detention for the suspect, which was imposed on him due to the danger of reoffending. To protect victims, details have been published sparingly.
In the second case, the Pula County State Attorney's Office has filed an indictment against a 44-year-old man charged with rape of a close person, domestic violence, infliction of minor injuries, threats and violation of children's rights. According to the indictment, the defendant was physically violent towards a close person over an extended period in the Istrian County area. In April 2023, he allegedly raped her, and threatened and slightly injured her. The defendant's children witnessed this violence, for which reason he is also facing charges of violation of children's rights. The prosecution has requested an extension of pre-trial detention due to fears of reoffending.
