Two men from Petrinja arrested with drugs, weapons and explosives
Police have arrested two men from the Petrinja area following several months of investigation, with drugs, an automatic rifle, a silencer, a bomb and an improvised explosive device found in their vehicle.

Following an extensive investigation that lasted several months, police officers have arrested two men from the area around Petrinja. One is 37 years old and the other 33. The operation was jointly conducted by criminal investigators from Sisak-Moslavina, specialists from the Criminal Police Directorate and the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Sisak, according to Večernji list.
According to the words of chief Alenka Vrđuka, whilst individual criminal offences such as unlawful possession of drugs or weapons are relatively frequent, their combination in the same case presents a serious security challenge.
At the end of March of this calendar year, the older of the two men allegedly handed over approximately 25 grammes of amphetamine to a woman from the same area. Several weeks later, in April, the two agreed to travel to the capital to obtain new supplies.
However, a police patrol team intercepted them after they had exited the A11 motorway near Lekenik. A court order enabled a detailed inspection of their vehicle. Inside, the following were discovered: an automatic rifle with the corresponding magazine and eight rounds, another magazine, nearly one kilogramme of amphetamine known as speed, close to 47 grammes of cocaine, a sound suppressor for gunfire, a box-cutter with a sheath, a face mask, an improvised device filled with more than 400 grammes of TNT, an electronic detonator, a detonator primer with installation, a hand grenade, three additional rounds, a GPS tracking device and one official registration plate belonging to the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Croatia.
The detainees were, in mid-April, handed over together with a criminal report to the competent detention supervisor. Vrđuka emphasised that through this intervention further supplies to the illegal narcotics market were halted, but also the potential use of the discovered weapons and explosive devices was prevented.
