Police in Split-Dalmatia County conducted two successful operations in which a large quantity of drugs was seized and two men were brought in.

In the first operation, traffic police stopped a car in the Dugopolje area on Wednesday evening. The driver was a 23-year-old man. As there were indications that the vehicle could be hiding an illegal substance, a police dog was brought to the scene.

The four-legged officer reacted to the interior of the car. Police then searched the airbag space in front of the front passenger seat and found a package containing 1.12 kilograms of cocaine inside it. The market value of the seized substance is estimated at over 100,000 euros.

The young man was taken to the station. A personal mobile telephone and cash were found and seized from him. After investigators completed their investigation, the suspect was handed over to the competent detention supervisor with a report.

The second operation was conducted on Thursday in the Makarska area. Police arrested a 21-year-old citizen of a neighbouring country. Four bags were found in his possession containing a total of 1.76 kilograms of marijuana. It is assumed that the plant was intended for sale in the coastal county area.

A criminal report was filed against this suspect as well on suspicion of unauthorised drug trafficking. He will be handed over to the detention supervisor during the day.
