An elderly man with dual citizenship was apprehended at the border. He is accused of physically assaulting and threatening a detained civilian in Podudbina in the early stages of the Homeland War.

Officers of the border police in Korenća have completed the criminal processing of a 72-year-old man who holds both Croatian and Serbian passports. An investigation is being conducted against him for an alleged war crime against civilians during the period of armed conflict on Croatian territory.
According to an official statement, the incident occurred on 21 January 1992 in the morning in the settlement of Podudbina. That area was then under temporary occupation, whilst regular forces of the Croatian Army and police were engaged in conflict with units of the self-proclaimed Republic of Serbian Krajina and its paramilitary formations.
The man was, according to the allegation, a member of the military police within the forces of the so-called RSK. It is stated that he unlocked a room in which a citizen born in 1964 was being detained. The victim was allegedly physically assaulted during several days of detention, and was subsequently issued serious threats after his release.
Officials emphasise that through this act the suspect violated international norms which protect the civilian population and civilians from dangers arising from military operations.
The proceedings were jointly conducted with the State Prosecutor's Office in Rijeka. Following the completion of the investigation, the elderly man was handed over to the detention supervisor, and the competent prosecution office was provided with an additional report as a supplement to the criminal complaint.
