Drugs sold at school and nearby: three young people questioned by Varaždin investigators

The State Prosecutor's Office in Varaždin has opened an investigation against three young Croatian nationals – one 20-year-old man and two 19-year-old women – on suspicion of multiple criminal offences relating to unauthorised procurement, sale and facilitation of illegal drug use, according to Večernji list.

According to the prosecution, the 20-year-old has since May 2023 until 13 May 2026 been procuring MDMA, amphetamine, LSD, cannabis and hallucinogenic mushrooms in the Varaždin County area for further sale. It is suspected that in 41 instances he sold or offered drugs to children and adults. Quantities ranged from 0.5 to 50 grams, with prices ranging from five to 400 euros.

Part of the sales allegedly took place within school premises and in locations intended for education, sports and social activities for children. Investigators also suspect that the same 20-year-old, in late 2024, gave cannabis for consumption to another person in the vicinity of a Varaždin primary school.

The first of the two 19-year-old women is accused of participating in the sale of MDMA in October and November 2025 in the premises of a Varaždin secondary school. According to the prosecution's allegations, she acted on the instructions of the 20-year-old, who had arranged the transactions in advance: she handed over two MDMA tablets on three occasions to two pupils at a price of ten euros per tablet.

The same suspect is also accused of keeping money obtained from drug sales for the 20-year-old from the beginning of 2025 until 13 May 2026 – a total of 6,330 euros. Personal identity documents and bank account cards belonging to people who allegedly owed the 20-year-old money were found in her possession and reportedly served as security that the debts would be settled.

The second 19-year-old woman is accused of facilitating cannabis consumption on 27 July 2025 in a location in the Varaždin County area to a child born in 2007 and to the aforementioned 20-year-old.

On the proposal of the State Prosecutor's Office, the investigating judge at the County Court in Varaždin ordered remand custody for the 20-year-old due to the danger of repetition of the criminal offence and possible influence on witnesses. The first 19-year-old woman was issued with precautionary measures due to the same danger – a ban on approaching a specific person and establishing or maintaining contact with that person.
