Teenager (17) kicked man in head in Varaždin, victim loses consciousness

On Saturday at around 3 a.m. in Varaždin, a 17-year-old teenager kicked a 20-year-old man in the head, causing him to lose consciousness. The teenager has been reported for criminal prosecution on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm.

Attack in Varaždin: 17-year-old kicks 20-year-old in the head

On Saturday at around 3 a.m. on Ivana Padovca street in Varaždin, a 17-year-old teenager kicked a 20-year-old man in the head, after which the young man lost consciousness. According to a report from the Varaždin Police Administration cited by 24sata, the attacker acted with the intention of causing serious injury to the victim.

The confrontation was preceded by verbal and physical altercations. Two young men, a 20-year-old and an 18-year-old, were disturbing public order and peace to the detriment of four teenagers — two aged 16 and two aged 17.

During the scuffle, the 20-year-old fell to the ground. One of the 17-year-olds then kicked him in the head. A team from the Varaždin County Emergency Medical Service arrived at the scene and transported the injured man to Varaždin General Hospital. The nature and severity of his injuries have not yet been classified.

Police have completed the criminal investigation. The seventeen-year-old will be handed over to the custody supervisor of the Varaždin Police Administration with a criminal report for the offence of attempted grievous bodily harm.

Against the other participants in the confrontation, police will submit criminal charges to the competent municipal court for breaches of the Law on Misdemeanours against Public Order and Peace. The competent regional offices of the Croatian Institute for Social Care will be informed of proceedings against the teenagers and younger adults.
