Juvenile arrested in Split over extortion: burned victim with lighter whilst others filmed
Split police have arrested a juvenile (born 2010) suspected of extortion following a disturbing video of violence in Pazdigrad. The victim was beaten, burned with a lighter and had his bag searched.

Split police arrested a juvenile born in 2010 this morning on suspicion of committing the criminal offence of extortion, police confirmed following an enquiry made by 24sata editorial staff.
According to information provided by 24sata, the incident occurred approximately two weeks ago in the Split settlement of Pazdigrad. In video footage in the possession of the editorial staff, a juvenile attacker can be seen holding the victim by the collar and pushing them against a table whilst shouting: "Where's the money?" He then searches through the injured party's bag, takes a packet of cigarettes, and subsequently burns the attacked person on the arm with a lighter.
At the time of the attack, a larger group of juveniles was present in the vicinity. Some of those present appealed to the attacker to stop, but nobody physically intervened. One of those present filmed the entire incident on a mobile phone, and at one point the attacker addresses the camera directly with the words: "Are you filming?"
The editorial staff stated that they would not publish the video due to its violent nature and because minors appear in it.
Split police confirmed that before receiving the video and the editorial enquiry, they had no knowledge of the incident. "Upon reviewing the provided video, police officers recognised the injured party and the perpetrator," they stated, adding that they located the injured party (born 2009) the previous evening and conducted a conversation with them. The injured party did not seek medical assistance, and no physical injuries were established.
The suspected juvenile was arrested in the morning hours. A criminal investigation is being conducted into him, and police believe that the conditions for ordering investigative detention have been met. Upon completion of the investigation, he will be handed over to the detention supervisor.
