On Thursday at 8.30 am, Zadar police received a report of a serious assault in the settlement of Mandre on the island of Pag. A twenty-one-year-old Croatian citizen sustained injuries from a sharp object. 24sata brings details of the dramatic morning on the island.
According to information released by Zadar Police Directorate, the injured young man was admitted to a healthcare facility where he is receiving medical treatment. The patient's health condition is under constant medical supervision.
An investigation of the scene was conducted immediately. Shortly afterwards, police arrested a person against whom there is reasonable suspicion of being connected with this violent act. The case is being further investigated to establish all the circumstances of the attack.
Eyewitnesses described how the street was full of police vehicles and officers. The suspect was arrested in his house after the building was surrounded by police. According to statements from residents, the attacker had previously been imprisoned for physical assaults. He has lived in Mandre for years.
The injured young man was transported to Zadar hospital where, according to statements from a local resident, he is fighting for his life. Police are continuing the criminal investigation to establish the motive and exact course of events.
