Traffic police in Zadar stopped a car with Zagreb registration plates on motorway A1 near Nadin on Sunday around 11:30. The vehicle contained a driver and a passenger, both Croatian citizens.

During the inspection, a strong smell of cannabis emanated from the car, which is why specialists brought in a police dog trained to detect narcotics. The dog confirmed the presence of prohibited substances inside the vehicle.

After detaining the passenger, the car was transported to the station where a detailed inspection was conducted on the basis of a court order. A significant quantity of drugs was found in a concealed space between the cargo area and the cabin: almost 700 grams of cocaine, more than 450 grams of amphetamine, around 350 grams of hashish and almost 100 grams of marijuana. The total mass of the confiscation exceeded 1.5 kilograms.

In addition to narcotics, a large sum of cash was discovered in the vehicle, which is believed to have been obtained from illegal trade, as well as an electronic scales for precise determination of mass.

All items found were seized from the 27-year-old passenger. After the completion of the criminal investigation, the young man was placed in custody at Zadar police station, and a criminal report against him was submitted to the competent state prosecutor's office.

The driver of the car was not detained after questioning.
