A 21-year-old Croatian citizen was injured by a knife in the town of Mandre on the island of Pag on Thursday morning. Police received a report at 8.30 a.m., and several officers quickly arrived at the scene.
According to eyewitness accounts given to the portal 24 sata, the violence occurred near a house. A local resident said that screams had been heard in the town and that a younger man had sustained a stab wound. Officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, which they ultimately did at his home.
"Medical assistance is being provided to the seriously injured young man at the hospital, where he is under medical supervision. An investigation is underway," the Zadar police stated.
According to a local resident's account to 24 sata, the suspect is known to residents from an earlier period. "We know he has already been in prison for physical assaults. He has lived here for years. He was taken to Zadar hospital and is fighting for his life," the resident said.
Police confirmed that a man arrested is linked to this event. A criminal investigation is underway to clarify all the circumstances.
