Twenty-six-year-old Laura Prgomet, recognisable from the Croatian television format "Sanjski muškarac", has left prison after three days in custody. A court initially ordered thirty days of detention on Tuesday due to her conduct in a Dubrovnik hospitality establishment, but an appeals court later upheld the defence's objection, according to 24ur.com.
According to available information, a disturbance of public order and peace occurred on Sunday evening in a café in the Dubrovnik area. The young woman from the capital allegedly damaged the premises' equipment, insulted citizens present, and then physically attacked two members of the police force who had intervened.
Her lawyer Robert Bačić confirmed the change in the original decision. According to his statement, the court determined that the strict detention measure was not necessary and that less restrictive provisions could be applied. "After detailed consideration, our request has been accepted. Laura is now free, although the proceedings are still ongoing and nothing is finally resolved. This is nonetheless a significant step forward," the lawyer told reporters.
Despite her release, the suspect has been imposed with numerous obligations. She is required to appear twice a week at the Zagreb police headquarters to ensure her presence during the further handling of the case.
The lawyer added that his client is considerably more relaxed since leaving prison and plans to return to Zagreb. The timeframe for the continuation of court proceedings is currently unknown, and the amount of any potential sentence will be known only after the completion of the entire proceedings.
