Kick to the head assault in Varaždin: 17-year-old charged with grievous bodily harm
Varaždin police have concluded their investigation into a violent altercation from the first night of Špancirfest. A 20-year-old was knocked unconscious by a kick to the head and ended up in hospital.

Varaždin police have completed their criminal investigation into multiple persons in connection with a brawl that took place in the early hours of Saturday morning, around three o'clock, in Ivan Padovec Street in Varaždin, according to Index.hr.
The incident occurred during the first night of Špancirfest, when a large number of visitors traditionally gather in the city centre. A recording of the altercation spread on social media by Saturday.
According to the investigation results, two young men aged 20 and 18 verbally and physically attacked four minors — two 16-year-olds and two 17-year-olds. During the scuffle, the 20-year-old fell to the ground, after which one of the 17-year-olds kicked him in the head with intent to cause serious injury.
From the kick, the 20-year-old lost consciousness. A team from the Emergency Medical Service of Varaždin County transported him to Varaždin General Hospital, where injuries were confirmed whose severity has not yet been legally qualified.
Upon completion of the investigation, the 17-year-old will be handed over to the custody supervisor of Varaždin Police Administration with a criminal complaint for the offence of grievous bodily harm in the attempt. Against the other participants in the altercation, police will file charges with the competent municipal court for violations of Article 13 of the Law on Misdemeanours against Public Order and Peace.
Police will also deliver reports to the competent regional offices of the Croatian Institute for Social Care regarding proceedings against all minors and younger adults involved.
