Woman accused of failing to report murder near Karlovac disappears with child in Virovitici
Police have been searching for four days for Bojana Peševska, accused of failing to report the murder of Amar Sofić, who disappeared with a minor child in Virovitici.
Search for accused: Peševska disappears with child ahead of trial in Karlovac
Police have launched an intensive search for Bojana Peševska (33), a citizen of North Macedonia, who has disappeared with a minor child in Virovitici, reports 24sata. The disappearance was reported on 17 August, and the search has been ongoing for four days.
Peševska is one of the accused in proceedings before the County Court in Karlovac in the case of the serious murder of Amar Sofić, committed in November 2024. Unlike the primary accused Jure Udorović (25), who is charged with serious murder for gain, Peševska had been answering charges of failing to report a criminal offence, forgery of documents and authentication of false content – and was defending herself at liberty.
According to the indictment, Udorović drugged Sofić (34) with medication, struck him about ten times on the head and body with a wooden object, and then threw him naked into the Kupa river where he drowned. The motive was theft of his BMW. On the same day, using a forged purchase agreement, Peševska transferred the car into her own name for the alleged sum of 2,500 euros – at a time when, according to the indictment, she already knew of the murder, reports Jutarnji list.
Both pleaded not guilty in court, but their earlier statements to police are mutually contradictory. Udorović described the incident as self-defence that got out of control:
"We were drunk and on drugs. We jumped into the Kupa, and when we got out, Amar attacked me with a piece of wood. I took it from him and hit him, after which he fell into the river. I went back to Bojana and told her everything. She told me to keep quiet and arranged the car transfer herself. I should have reported everything," Udorović stated.
Police continue to search for Peševska and the child, and details about the direction of the search have not been made public.
