Drink-driver in Pirovac causes multi-vehicle crash, 53-year-old killed
A drunk 34-year-old overtook a queue of vehicles across a solid line on road D8 in Pirovac and caused a multi-vehicle crash in which a 53-year-old driver was killed.

One person died in a night-time traffic accident on state road D8 in Pirovac, reports Index.hr. The crash was caused by a 34-year-old from Virovitica who, under the influence of alcohol and driving at an inappropriate speed, attempted to overtake multiple vehicles by crossing a continuous solid line.
During the overtaking manoeuvre, he endangered an oncoming vehicle. Attempting to avoid a head-on collision, he suddenly swerved right and struck the rear of a vehicle with Zagreb registration plates with the front of his car, which was being driven by a 53-year-old. The force of the impact ejected the vehicle off the roadway, where it struck a metal street lamp pole.
The 34-year-old's car continued to skid and crossed into the opposite traffic lane, where it struck the side of a vehicle with Šibenik registration plates being driven by an 18-year-old with its front.
The 53-year-old driver died at the scene of the crash. The person responsible for the crash was transported by ambulance to Šibenik General Hospital.
The crash investigation was supervised by a deputy county state prosecutor in Šibenik. Police will continue proceedings against the 34-year-old after he is released from hospital.
