Following a shooting in Čakovec in the early morning hours of 4 July, police are conducting an extensive search for the suspected man who fled the scene of the incident.

In the car park of a catering establishment in the centre of Čakovec, on Saturday 4 July shortly before four o'clock in the morning, a criminal offence of attempted murder and endangering the life and property by a generally dangerous act or means took place. Two people sustained serious injuries in the incident.
After carrying out the attack, the suspect fled the scene of the crime. The Međimurska police confirmed that they are intensively searching for a man they have dealt with previously and whom they link to the aforementioned criminal offences. They emphasised that they are in constant close cooperation with the competent County State Attorney's Office in Varaždin and are conducting all legally prescribed measures and actions in order to find and arrest him.
The County State Attorney's Office promptly issues the police with the necessary orders and approvals for the conduct of evidence and other legally prescribed procedures, thereby ensuring an unobstructed, lawful and effective course of the criminal investigation and intensive search for the perpetrator.
The police are calling on all citizens who possess any information that could contribute to his discovery, or who notice the person in the photograph, to inform the nearest police station without delay or call the number 192.
They also warned citizens that for their own safety, should they notice the wanted person, they should not approach him or establish contact, but should immediately inform the police.
