An 85-year-old from Sveti Ivan Zelina is suspected of drug trafficking and extorting money from a 53-year-old, whom he threatened along with members of the latter's family.

Police officers from Zagreb police have completed an investigation into a 55-year-old man linked to illegal drug trafficking and extortion of monetary compensation. According to the results of the investigation, the suspect kept, measured and repackaged white powder in a residential building in the Sveti Ivan Zelina area for the purpose of selling it to further customers.
It was established that in the spring of last year, the suspect handed over cocaine to the victim, a 53-year-old, on multiple occasions with a promise that the latter would subsequently pay him back. Although the latter settled a certain amount, the older man continued to force him to make a payment of sixteen thousand euros which he allegedly did not return.
In order to force the victim to make the payment, the suspect sent him serious threats, which also included members of the victim's family. Due to fear for the life and safety of his closest relatives, the 53-year-old decided to contact the police.
During a search of the suspect's home, officers discovered eighteen packets of cocaine with a total weight of over seventy-nine grams. Two electronic scales were also found, with traces of drugs on them, which confirms the intention of further distribution.
Following the investigation, the man was remanded in custody and the report was forwarded to the competent state prosecutors in the capital.
