Shooting in Čakovec: Two seriously injured, police search for attacker from drug milieu
A shooting erupted on Saturday morning at the car park of a nightclub in central Čakovec, seriously injuring two young men. The attacker is at large, and according to unofficial reports, the incident is connected to a dispute over the division of drug proceeds.

On Saturday at 4:03 a.m., on the car park behind a nightclub in Čakovec, a violent altercation broke out that ended with gunfire. Two young men, aged 22 and 28, sustained serious gunshot wounds. The attacker then fled, and police are still searching for him, according to Index.hr.
According to information that has not been officially confirmed, the reason for the altercation was the division of drug proceeds. People from the club first fought with each other, and then the suspect returned with a pistol. He shot one victim in the ankle and another in the abdominal area. The entire incident took place in front of witnesses who filmed the whole thing from a car. In the video, someone can be heard shouting "no, no, no", followed by the sound of the pistol being cocked.
Both of the injured men ended up in hospital in Čakovec. The younger man underwent surgery immediately the night after the attack due to the severity of his injuries and is now stable. The older man has a haematoma in the thigh area and will most likely require another surgical intervention.
Police have launched a major search, but the perpetrator discarded his mobile phone and switched it off, which makes tracking difficult. Nevertheless, investigators believe they will find him soon. It is known that the suspect was born in Sisak and moved to Međimurje a few months ago. Both injured men are from Gornje Međimurje.
