A 56-year-old from Rašćani near Vrgovec caused a fire in the courtyard overnight and threatened police with death. He was admitted to hospital, and faces criminal investigation.

Overnight intervention in Rašćani: fire, death threats and arrest

According to an Index.hr report, police intervened in Rašćani near Vrgovec this morning around 00:40 hours due to a breach of the peace and a vehicle fire in the courtyard of a family home.

At the scene, police and firefighters found a 56-year-old man in a distressed state who is suspected of causing the fire. He refused to comply with police orders and offered active resistance, as a result of which coercive measures were applied against him. On several occasions he threatened police with death.

Firefighters extinguished the fire. It was established that two unregistered personal vehicles were completely destroyed, whilst two other unregistered vehicles suffered partial damage. Two of the damaged vehicles are owned by the 56-year-old man.

The man was examined at the police station, but due to his distressed state was transferred to hospital for specialist examination, where he was admitted for further treatment.

Police will conduct an inspection at the scene of the incident today. Once discharged from hospital, criminal investigation will be conducted against the 56-year-old on suspicion of the criminal offence of endangering life and property through a generally dangerous act or means.
