Two Slovenian citizens, a 54-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man, have been remanded in custody in Lovreća in Croatian Istria. Police suspect them of multiple criminal offences, including threats, causing bodily harm, and assault on official persons.
The conflict occurred in a hospitality venue and escalated with the arrival of police. The Istrian police have completed a criminal investigation against the 54-year-old Slovenian woman, whom they suspect of five criminal offences of threat and two criminal offences of causing bodily harm, and against the 20-year-old Slovenian, suspected of two threats, two instances of causing bodily harm, and coercion of an official person.
Police were initially called due to a quarrel between several people in the establishment. Most of those present calmed down upon the arrival of police, except for the two Slovenian citizens who continued to shout, insult, and humiliate the officers. According to police reports, the 54-year-old woman threatened the police officers with death. When she was informed that she was under arrest, she attempted to flee, so the officers used coercive measures.
The 20-year-old then intervened, grabbing a police officer by the hand and attempting to drag him away in order to free the woman. Police had to use force against him as well to restrain him.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had already threatened an 80-year-old woman, an 86-year-old man, and a 44-year-old man on the terrace of the establishment before police arrived, and that they had also physically injured them. Both suspects were taken to the custody unit of the Istrian Police Directorate in the evening hours.
