Solin: 52-year-old jailed for drug possession, assault on police and causing accident
A 52-year-old man from Solin was arrested and remanded in custody for 12 days following a series of serious offences on Sunday evening. He caused a traffic accident, drove without a valid licence, possessed marijuana and assaulted police officers.

The Municipal Misdemeanour Court in Solin ordered 12 days in custody for a man (52) who on Sunday evening committed a series of serious traffic offences, possessed drugs and physically assaulted police officers, Index.hr reports.
According to police statements, at around 21:30 hours in Solin a patrol attempted to stop a vehicle driven by the 52-year-old. The driver did not respond to audible or visual signals and instead continued driving. During the pursuit he caused a traffic accident in which he was himself seriously injured, but did not stop — he continued driving until the vehicle came to a halt on its own.
Police established that the man had no right to operate a vehicle at all. Due to accumulated 12 negative traffic offence points he was not permitted to acquire a new driving licence until 3 June 2027. Moreover, the vehicle's registration certificate had expired more than 15 days earlier.
Officers found 10.5 grams of marijuana on him, and preliminary testing confirmed the presence of drugs in his system. He refused to provide blood and urine samples for further analysis. During police proceedings he insulted and showed contempt towards police officers.
The man was arrested and brought before the competent court. Police requested 15 days in custody due to risk of reoffending, a total fine of €2,450, a prison sentence of 120 days and permanent confiscation of the vehicle and number plates.
The Municipal Misdemeanour Court in Split, Standing Office in Solin, ordered 12 days in custody due to fear of further offences, after which he was remanded in prison, police announced.
