A security service employee at a tourist facility on the Croatian part of Istria caught a 29-year-old Serb filming minors without swimwear using his mobile phone.
The incident occurred on Thursday, 25 June, shortly before 17:30. A private security worker noticed a foreigner covertly using his mobile phone to film children who were unclothed. He reacted immediately and the suspect ended up in police custody.
The Istria Police Administration initiated criminal proceedings on suspicion of exploiting minors for pornographic purposes. In addition, proceedings were launched against the suspect under the law regulating the stay of foreigners in Croatia.
Officials stressed that parents should be careful about where their children are staying on beaches and in swimming pools. They recommend that children always wear swimwear and that police be notified immediately if anyone notices a stranger filming minors.
