A shooting took place on Saturday morning in the centre of Čakovec in which two people sustained serious injuries. The attacker fled the scene and police are still searching for him.

In the early morning hours of Saturday, shortly before four o'clock, a shooting broke out in the car park of a hospitality establishment in the centre of Čakovec. Two people were seriously wounded in the incident, and the person who fired the shots fled and has not yet been apprehended, reports Večer.
The attacker left the scene after committing the crime and has been at large since then. Police suspect him of attempted murder of two people and of creating a general danger to life and property through the use of a dangerous weapon. According to available information, the same person had previously been subject to police proceedings.
Due to the proximity of the Slovenian border and the existence of the so-called green border in the area, there is a possibility that the suspect fled to the Slovenian side in order to evade arrest.
The Međimurje Police Administration has confirmed that the search for the suspect is continuing at full capacity. In cooperation with the competent County State Prosecutor's Office in Varaždin, all measures and actions prescribed by law are being carried out with the aim of finding and apprehending the perpetrator.
The County State Prosecutor's Office issues the police with all necessary orders and permits for conducting investigative and other legally prescribed actions. This ensures the conduct of unobstructed, lawful and effective criminal investigation and intensive search for the suspect.
Police call on citizens to report any information about the wanted person or if they spot him immediately to the nearest police station or by calling the police telephone number. Citizens are also warned not to approach the suspect for their own safety and not to establish contact with him, but to immediately inform police officers.
