More than 105 kilograms of cannabis was found in a container with furniture that arrived from Canada at the Croatian port of Ploče, and in the course of the investigation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ten people were brought in.
The anti-corruption and criminal investigation authority (USKOK) last Friday, together with police officers from Dubrovnik and Neretva, stopped a shipment in which 105.6 kilograms of plant-based drug was concealed. Customs officials discovered 171 packages of cannabis with an estimated value of at least half a million euros during their inspection of the cargo. The planned final destination was the territory of a neighbouring state.
To identify all participants in the chain, a controlled delivery procedure was initiated. Based on decisions by courts in Split and in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 40 kilograms of seized material was transferred from Croatia across the border, with officials from both countries accompanying it throughout the entire route.
On Tuesday, after the cargo arrived at the location of Laktaše, operatives from SIPA (the State Investigation and Protection Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina) brought in ten people with Bosnian-Herzegovinian and Serbian citizenship. An investigation is being conducted against them on suspicion of involvement in organised drug trafficking. They were handed over to the competent prosecution in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
