Arsenal of dangerous pyrotechnic devices discovered hidden in vegetation near school in Split
On Friday morning, as part of routine preventive patrols around school buildings, officers from the First and Second police stations of the Split-Dalmatia Police Administration came across a significant quantity of pyrotechnic articles hidden in vegetation near a primary school. The materials were concealed among shrubs and trees in a wooded area, at a location where their activation could have caused a fire and serious damage.
According to an official police statement, the discovered explosive materials belong to a category that is prohibited even for adult citizens. Officers immediately seized the entire stockpile, preventing students from coming into contact with the dangerous goods and averting potential injuries.
Police warned via 24sata that the use of such articles by minors could have permanent health consequences. They called on teachers and parents to speak with children about the dangers posed by celebrations involving pyrotechnics.
Increased inspections of student gathering places, particularly in school zones and public spaces, will continue throughout the day in all municipalities of Split-Dalmatia County. The aim is to ensure a peaceful end to the school year without incidents, property destruction, and other forms of misconduct.
