Twenty-two-year-old Jona Javor Jurčević, son of independent parliamentary representative Josip Jurčević, has been taken into custody on suspicion of robbery and assault against a three-member family. His father denies any knowledge of the case and accuses the "deep state".

Police in the capital have taken into custody twenty-two-year-old Jona Javor Jurčević, whose father is parliamentary representative Josip Jurčević. The young man is suspected of being involved in a robbery and assault against a three-member family.
Josip Jurčević, an academic who teaches history at university and is a member of the parliamentary Committee on National Security, stated that he was unaware of his son's detention. He claims the entire case is a "hybrid operation" and that behind it stands the "deep state" which seeks to discredit him. He added that he has confidence in police officers in the field, but not in the political leadership of the police. He expects, he says, that the proceedings will be conducted according to the law.
Representative Jurčević was elected to parliament in 2024 as an independent candidate on the list of the Homeland Movement, and later moved to the Bridge Club. He had already been in the spotlight in 2023 when an unregistered firearm and ammunition were found in his house. As a result, he had to pay a fine of 2,650 euros.
