Ukrainian man (47) arrested in Zagreb on suspicion of killing woman by throwing her from building
On Saturday afternoon, at approximately 16:35, it was reported that an unknown woman had fallen from a multi-storey building on Zagorska Street in Trešnjevka. Emergency services arrived at the scene and determined that a 46-year-old woman from Ukraine, who was legally residing in the country, had died.
Initially it did not appear to be a violent act, but further investigative work revealed that a criminal act could be behind the tragedy. In the flat where the deceased woman lived, police found a 47-year-old man from Ukraine who also has legal status in Croatia. He was found in a state of severe alcohol intoxication and visible distress.
A crime scene investigation was conducted under the supervision of the Zagreb County State Attorney's Office, and the body was subsequently transferred to the Institute for Forensic Medicine for an autopsy. On Sunday, investigators decided to arrest the man on a charge of aggravated murder after collecting additional information.
The police officially confirmed that the 47-year-old has been brought in and that an investigation is being conducted against him on suspicion of committing the most serious form of murder.
