Eight-member drug-trafficking operation dismantled through SKY ECC application
Forty-year-old forwarder Hrvoje Bertak from Dugo Selo and seven other members of an organised group are suspected of transporting cocaine, cannabis and amphetamine oil in 17 consignments across Europe during 2020 and 2021, reports Jutarnji list. The group earned at least 288,000 euros through this means.
USKOK and police carried out the operation after investigators decrypted encrypted and coded usernames of the SKY ECC application, thereby exposing dozens of criminals in south-eastern Europe and the EU.
According to the USKOK indictment, Bertak organised five drivers from spring 2020 onwards to transport drugs on his instructions at the request of secret clients in the EU—all of this as part of what the prosecution describes as a genuine drug-trafficking operation. The group was just one of many that fell in the investigation based on data from the SKY ECC communications network.
