Arrests and urgent investigative measures have been carried out in the Zagreb, Istrian and Zadar county areas. Two people are under investigation on suspicion of committing corruption-related criminal offences related to military equipment procurement.
USKOK in Action in Three Counties: Former Defence Ministry Procurement Chief and Company Owner Arrested
Arrests and urgent investigative measures were carried out on Wednesday in the Zagreb, Istrian and Zadar county areas pursuant to a USKOK order. The operation was carried out by the military police of the Ministry of Defence in cooperation with the police administrations of the three counties.
Two people are under investigation for whom there is reasonable suspicion that they have committed corruption-related criminal offences, USKOK announced. Among those arrested is the former head of the Independent Sector for Public Procurement Procedures of the Ministry of Defence, Brigadier Ivica Devčić, who held that position until the end of 2021. Unofficially, it has been learnt that Alma Boch, owner of the Zagreb company Design Vision, has also been arrested.
Investigators suspect irregularities in the procurement of military equipment for specialists from Delnica, carried out during 2018 and 2019. Design Vision received contracts with the Ministry of Defence, including the supply of special boots worth approximately 160,000 euros in 2024. In addition to boots, the company sells thermal-regulation undergarments, gaiters and berets to the Ministry.
After the completion of questioning of the suspects, USKOK will make a decision on further proceedings in the matter, about which the public will be informed, the statement said.
