Istrian police have filed criminal charges against a 29-year-old Serbian citizen suspected of secretly filming naked children on his mobile phone at a tourist facility in the Istrian region. A security guard detained him until police arrived.

At a tourist facility on the Istrian peninsula, an employee of a private security service noticed an unknown man on Thursday afternoon secretly filming naked minors on his mobile phone. The incident occurred around 5:30 p.m. The security guard immediately prevented the suspect from fleeing and detained him until the arrival of police officers.
Istrian police launched an investigation and after examining the contents of the mobile device found evidence supporting suspicion of committing the criminal offence of exploiting children for pornographic purposes. The 29-year-old, a citizen of Serbia, was brought in on Friday evening and placed in custody. In addition to the criminal charge, proceedings were initiated under the Law on Foreigners.
Officials stressed that this case demonstrates growing public awareness of the dangers of child exploitation and called on parents to be vigilant and monitor the activities of their children, particularly at bathing areas and public spaces.
