Gang leader threatens to kill hostages after mass attack in Haiti
At least 47 people have been killed and more than 50 abducted after armed men attacked the Kenscoff area in the mountains above Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, on Sunday. The UN announced this on Tuesday according to DR Nyheder, citing news agency AP.
The attack is described as one of the largest mass abductions in Haiti in recent times. Among the dead are five children, and 22 of the victims were allegedly executed in a church area where they had sought refuge — according to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who condemned the attack on Tuesday.
A gang leader subsequently posted a video on social media with a direct threat against the hostages.
"If any of our soldiers gets injured, I will kill them all," the gang leader said according to AP.
Authorities are working to regain control of the area.
