Two alleged members of an armed group were killed during a police intervention carried out in the locality of Lory, at the eastern entrance to Cap-Haïtien, reports vantbefinfo.com. The operation was conducted by the Departmental Service of the Judicial Police of the North (SDPJ-Nord), a unit of the National Police of Haiti (PNH).
In the night of 4 to 5 June 2026, agents of the SDPJ-Nord moved into a sector identified by authorities as one of the main criminal hotspots in the region. Two individuals, known by the nicknames Dan and Peterly, were mortally wounded during an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. The police consider them to be influential members of an armed group involved in several recent criminal acts within the Cap-Haïtien jurisdiction.
Suspects linked to several criminal cases in the North
The two men were actively sought for their alleged involvement in a series of crimes that have marked the security news of the North department. According to information provided by the PNH, the charges against them include the murder of Luckner Vulver, an agent of the Brigade for Surveillance of Protected Areas (BSAP), committed on 16 April 2026. The assassination of Pierre-Louis Archange, followed by the burning of his body, two residences and a vehicle, is also charged, dating from 21 May.
On 23 May, an armed attack cost the life of Mercéline Bochard. Her husband, lawyer Germinal Wesly, was among the targets of the attackers during that same attack.
Weapon seized, analyses underway
Following the operation, agents recovered a modified pistol whose serial number was illegible. The weapon will be subjected to ballistic analyses in order to determine its possible involvement in other criminal acts committed in the North department.
Legal formalities were carried out by clerk Eddy Pierre, acting on the mandate of judge Dieula Benjamin. The bodies were then transported to the morgue of Justinien Hospital in Cap-Haïtien.
PNH maintains pressure on armed groups
This operation is part of a series of actions undertaken by the PNH to strengthen security in the North of the country. Authorities say they are continuing their efforts to dismantle armed groups active in the Cap-Haïtien region.
