PNH inspector arrested in Pétion-Ville for alleged gang links
A PNH inspector was arrested on 30 June 2026 for alleged affiliation with a gang specialising in kidnappings and burglaries in Port-au-Prince.
Arrest of Haitian police officer suspected of complicity with gang
According to lenouvelliste.com, the Research and Intervention Brigade (BRI), a unit attached to the Central Directorate of the Judicial Police (DCPJ), arrested police inspector Rubenson Elcé on 30 June 2026. Elcé, a member of the 18th promotion of the Haitian National Police (PNH), was arrested for alleged affiliation with a criminal group.
The arrest followed an operation conducted in Pèlerin 5, in the municipality of Pétion-Ville. The intervention resulted in the dismantling of a gang hub active in kidnappings and burglaries within the Port-au-Prince metropolitan region, according to the PNH.
Elcé is currently being held in custody at the DCPJ facilities. The PNH indicates that the investigation is continuing with a view to identifying and apprehending all individuals involved in this matter.
