Six bandits killed and significant arsenal seized in police operation at Delmas 2
An operation conducted by specialised units of the Haitian National Police (PNH) on Monday, 19 January 2026 in the Tokyo sector, located in the Delmas 2 area, resulted in the neutralisation of six armed individuals and the confiscation of a considerable quantity of weapons.
According to a statement from the Police Communications Directorate (DICOP), officers seized eighteen twelve-gauge shotguns, three AR-15-type assault rifles, a twenty-two calibre carbine and eight pistols. The police forces also recovered a significant quantity of ammunition of various calibres, namely 5.56, twelve, 7.62, thirty-eight and nine millimetre rounds.
Additionally, five drones and police-issue uniforms were discovered during this operation. The presence of these uniforms could indicate that the criminals were attempting to impersonate law enforcement officers to carry out their illegal activities.
This operation is part of the efforts deployed by the PNH to regain control of areas heavily infested by gangs in Port-au-Prince, the Haitian capital, where armed gangs continue to exert considerable control over several neighbourhoods.
