The victim, McKenzie Michalski, lost her life during a one-night encounter with the defendant. The Irish man's lawyers claimed that the death was an accident, but the presiding judge agreed with the prosecution's position, finding it implausible that Michalski would have requested violence during the encounter.
The Irish man's legal representatives have already filed an appeal against the sentence, as reported by The Irish Times.
