Hungarian police have arrested a 60-year-old British citizen wanted internationally for child sexual abuse in the USA. The man was intercepted near Polgár after crossing the border from Romania on 26 August.

Hungarian police have detained a 60-year-old British citizen sought by American authorities for two decades, according to G4Media, which cites Agerpres. The National Bureau of Investigation of Hungarian police confirmed the arrest on Friday on the police.hu website, specifying that the operation was carried out on the basis of information provided by the FBI.
The man has been under investigation since 2003, accused of coercing a minor into illegal sexual activities on the territory of the United States. He fled the USA in September 2004, most likely to the United Kingdom, and an international arrest warrant was issued against him in 2006.
Hungarian investigators identified the vehicle with British registration plates that he was driving and tracked the moment he entered Hungary from Romania, on 26 August. Police located his position and intercepted him near the town of Polgár, in north-eastern Hungary, where they confirmed his identity and detained him.
Hungarian authorities initiated extradition procedures, though a court subsequently released him pending further procedural decisions.
