A 25-year-old local resident drove under the influence of marijuana before driving into the water. Police have initiated criminal proceedings for drug possession.

On the evening of 8 July, a young man from Győr drove his car into the Rábca river after getting behind the wheel under the influence of drugs – according to the police portal.
The 25-year-old driver was travelling on Kunszigeti road when he left the road surface and drove into the water. Firefighters recovered the submerged vehicle. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Officers searched the man and found a grinder contaminated with plant residue in his clothing. The suspect admitted to using cannabis before driving. The roadside drug test came back positive for THC.
Győr detectives have initiated criminal proceedings on suspicion of the misdemeanour of drug possession.
