Former cultural fund deputy chair remanded in custody for one month
The Kecskemét court has ordered Bús Balázs into custody for a full month, according to Klubrádió.
The man, who previously served as deputy head of the National Cultural Fund (NKA) and as mayor of Óbuda, was led out of the courtroom handcuffed with restraints. In the corridor, he told journalists that in his view the court had decided not on an independent basis but for political reasons, and in doing so had violated the law.
The former politician also claimed that he had been thoroughly questioned, and that he had answered all questions and cooperated with investigators. He denied ever committing any unlawful act, and also denied ever issuing any unlawful decision.
When asked who dictated the rules for the distribution of tender money, he remained silent. He similarly refused to respond to whether Balázs Hankó, the minister who previously oversaw the NKA, had instructed him to do anything.
