The Tapolca Police Headquarters has initiated a search operation in connection with the disappearance of Martin Hofer, according to police.hu. The 81-year-old German citizen left his home on the outskirts of Lesenceistvánd shortly after 3 p.m. on 28 July 2026, and has not been found since. Hofer has difficulty orientating himself in space and time, and does not speak Hungarian.
At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a dark blue jacket, light blue jeans, and brown slippers.
The police request that anyone who recognises the man or has information about his whereabouts report in person to Tapolca Police Headquarters (Tapolca, Ady Endre utca 2.), or call 06/30-227-3744. Anonymous reports can also be made via the Telefontanú green number on 06-80-555-111, or by calling the emergency number 112.
