A man pursued an acquaintance with a gas pistol and shot him in the face multiple times near Encs after they had quarrelled. The prosecutor's office has brought charges of assault with a weapon.

The Encs District Prosecutor's Office has brought charges against a man who pursued an acquaintance with a gas pistol and shot him in the face multiple times in December 2023 near Encs, according to the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County Chief Prosecutor's Office.
According to the charge, the man was driving at dawn when he noticed the victim walking along the side of the road, with whom he had had a row earlier that evening. The accused stopped, got out of his vehicle, began insulting the man, and then fired at his face approximately fifty centimetres away using a gas pistol, shooting multiple times.
The attacked person ran to a nearby field to escape, but the perpetrator followed and shot at him repeatedly whilst he was fleeing. When he caught up with him, he struck the victim on the back of the head with the butt of the weapon, and when the victim fell to the ground, shot him in the face again from close range before leaving the scene.
As a result of the attack, the victim suffered injuries that required medical treatment within eight days. The prosecutor's office emphasised that the shots fired with the gas pistol could have caused more serious bodily harm.
Against the previously unblemished suspect, the prosecutor's office requested a suspended custodial sentence without trial through a penal order, as well as the confiscation of the gas pistol used and the gas cartridges belonging to it.
