In the final days of December 2023, in the early morning hours, a man driving a car spotted an acquaintance walking by the roadside. The two parties had already quarrelled a day earlier. The driver got out, began hurling insults at the pedestrian, then fired multiple shots from a gas-cartridge weapon from roughly fifty centimetres at his face – according to Index.

The victim attempted to flee to a nearby field, but the perpetrator pursued him. During the chase, he fired another shot, and when he caught up with him, struck him from behind with the gun's grip. Once the victim was on the ground, he shot him in the face again from a distance of a few centimetres, then left.

Fortunately, the injured party sustained injuries that healed within eight days. The authorities emphasised that the projectile fired from the gas-cartridge weapon could have caused more serious harm.

The accused, who had no prior criminal record, was requested by the prosecution to receive a suspended prison sentence in a penal order proceeding without a hearing, as well as confiscation of the firearm and ammunition.
