The Bászna company group, which was connected to the family of the Fidesz politician, has collapsed: multiple companies are being wound up, while its head is suspected of embezzlement totalling nearly 10 billion forints.

The court has ordered the winding-up of a north-eastern Hungarian agricultural enterprise after the group's grain-trading subsidiary previously went into insolvency. The authorities are now liquidating the pig-breeding and animal feed production units as well.
The person in charge of the business, Gábor Szilágyi, is accused of misappropriating a vast sum of nearly 10 billion forints. The man is currently in custody.
The pig farm operating company had close connections to the relatives of the ruling-party politician. The company included as a shareholder the elderly mother of Lajos Kósa, who jointly held shares with the company's other owner, Gábor Szilágyi, and his brother.
During the operation of the economic entity, several suspicious transactions came to light. The animal husbandry farm, for instance, leased expensive German cars, including a vehicle of the same type that the politician himself arrived in at a party event in 2017. Additionally, they secured significant European Union funding of more than 100 million forints for the modernisation of the facility, but ultimately renounced this money.
The entire company group could now disappear from the county's agricultural landscape, as police continue to investigate the abuses.
