A man from Dunavarsány has been charged after physically attacking fisheries inspectors conducting checks at a local fishing pond – according to a report by dunaharasztionline.hu.
According to the prosecution, the incident took place on the bank of a pond in Dunavarsány. Fisheries inspectors discovered irregularities whilst examining the angler. A verbal altercation then ensued, after which the man refused to comply with the inspectors' instructions, behaved aggressively, and ultimately physically assaulted them.
The Szigetszentmiklós District Prosecution Office filed charges for violence against a public official. The prosecution emphasised that the fisheries inspectors were acting within their lawful authority, meaning the attack against them falls into a more serious category. Fisheries inspectors are official persons whose task is to enforce fishing regulations, reduce regulatory violations, and initiate official proceedings when necessary. The law treats violence against them with particular severity.
The man's fate will now be determined in court.
