Attempted to seize victim's bag by strangulation

According to information from police.hu, a man accosted a woman at a pedestrian crossing in the early morning hours – in English – and asked her for a "C" type phone charger. The victim refused the request several times and then hurried on towards her workplace.

Shortly afterwards on Árpád Square, the perpetrator caught up with the woman and grabbed her bag from behind. As the victim held the bag tightly and would not let go, the perpetrator turned to face her, kicked her legs, and then began to strangle the woman who had fallen to the ground with great force. He only stopped the attack at the victim's screams.

The victim freed herself from the grip and ran to her workplace, where she sought help.

Police arrested the perpetrator within an hour and brought him to Szeged Police Headquarters. He was taken into custody and criminal proceedings were initiated against him for attempted robbery.
